POBNEWS24, Dhaka, June 13, 2022: English pacer James Anderson became the first fast bowler in Test history to take 650 wickets. He reached this milestone in the second Test against visiting New Zealand at Trentbridge.
Anderson pushed the Kiwis, who started the second innings 14 runs ahead of England, in the first over. He bowled Tom Latham in the fifth ball of the over.
The experienced pacer has taken 650 wickets in Test cricket.
Only two spinners – Muttiah Muralitharan and the late Aussie legend Shane Warne – are ahead of Anderson in the list of highest wicket-takers in Tests. Sri Lankan legend Murali is at the top with 600 wickets in 133 Tests. Warne took 606 wickets in 145 Tests. Former India spinner Anil Kumble is in the top four with 619 wickets.
Anderson is followed by former Aussie star Glenn McGrath. McGrath took 563 wickets in 124 Tests. Another English star Stuart Broad is still playing with 543 wickets.
