POBNEWS24 Dhaka, July 31, 2022 : The government has appointed 11 people as additional judges of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court. Before that they were engaged in the legal profession as Judges of Judges’ Courts, State Law Officers.
Today Sunday (29th July) Department of Law and Justice issued the notification for this recruitment. The notification states that the President has appointed them for a period of two years from the date of swearing-in.
The appointees are District and Sessions Judge on post-retirement leave (PRL). Shaukat Ali Chowdhury, District and Sessions Judge of Comilla. Atabullah, Deputy Attorney General Biswajit Debnath, Md. Aminul Islam, lawyer of the Supreme Court. Ali Reza, Registrar General of the Supreme Court. Bazlur Rahman, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Koyesh, Tangail District and Sessions Judge Fahmida Quader, Deputy Attorney General Md. Bashir-Ullah, Supreme Court lawyer SM Masud Hossain Dolan and AKA Rabiul Hasan.
With these 11 additional judges, the number of judges in the High Court of the Supreme Court stood at 95. It is reported that the 11 appointed judges may be sworn in at the Judges Lounge of the Supreme Court at 4 pm today.
