POBNEWS24, Dhaka Aug 20 2022 : Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen gave his explanation a day after making the statement that ‘I have sought India’s help to sustain Sheikh Hasina’. After paying respects at Bangabandhu’s mausoleum in Tungipara, Gopalganj today, he told the reporters, basically, I have sought India’s cooperation to protect communal harmony and stability in Bangladesh.

Momen said ‘bad guys’ exist in both countries and want to destroy communal harmony through incitement and molestation. If they do not get the opportunity, both Bangladesh and India will remain peaceful and stable.

The foreign minister said that the Assam chief minister said that the Assam state has been stabilized due to Sheikh Hasina’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy against terrorism. There is investment now. He presented the statement of the Chief Minister of Assam to New Delhi.

Momen said, ‘I have said that if Sheikh Hasina is in the government, there will be stability. Only with stability will the torch of our development continue. ‘

The foreign minister said that his statement of last Thursday was presented differently by the media. He said that everyone has freedom of speech in the country. So everyone can talk. However, if the statement is presented in a different way, it is regrettable. He requested the media to be a little more tolerant.

Earlier in the week in Sylhet, the foreign minister said that compared to other countries, the people of Bangladesh are in ‘heaven’. The foreign minister remarked that the news was also partially or otherwise presented by the media. Journalists asked him, how can he say that the people of Bangladesh are doing well amid rising commodity prices.

In response to this, the foreign minister said that our people are suffering a lot due to the increase in commodity prices. Suddenly the price went up. Oil which was 90 taka became 150 taka. I can’t quantify it in any way. Total diesel price has increased by Rs 28 per litre. The price should have been fixed, one rupee or few paise. But a case! That is so expensive!

The minister said, ‘The price of everything has increased dramatically. We are very concerned about this. Sheikh Hasina’s government is a friend of the common people. We are in government for common people. Our only goal is that people do not suffer. ‘

He said, when there is a war in Israel, the price of oil increases and there is a food shortage in the world. Now 50 years later I am proud. Oil prices are still rising. A war broke out and food prices rose. It is very surprising. But we all have to be careful because this country is ours. If there is instability in the country then those who spread false propaganda will not be able to live well.
