POBNEWS24, Dhaka Aug 23, 2024 : The Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance (Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Moha Jote) believes that the attack on the minority communities of the country after the overthrow of the Sheikh Hasina government in the student uprising has no scope to consider it as a ‘communal attack’. They say that after the fall of the government, the minorities were attacked for political gain. Some opportunists also joined the raid.
These things were said on behalf of the Hindu Mahazot in a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Friday morning. After the fall of the Awami League government, reports of attacks and vandalism of Hindu community houses, monasteries, temples, and businesses were published across the country; The press conference was held on the occasion of arrest of the accused, punishment, compensation to the victims and presentation of a permanent solution to the problem of minorities.
In the press conference, General Secretary of Hindu Mahajot Govinda Chandra Pramanik read the written statement. It is said by the Hindu Mahazot that for permanent solution of the minority problem, reserved seats should be reserved for them in the National Assembly. Separate elections should be arranged for minorities. At the same time, the Ministry of Minority Affairs should be established. Then no party can use the Hindu community as a political tool.
In the press conference, it was said that after the fall of the government, the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Parishad published the account of the loss of the minority community, the Hindu Grand Alliance believes that it is correct. However, the Hindu Mahajota themselves have collected some information. The written statement of the Hindu Mahazot said that from August 6 to Thursday, 132 ordinary Hindu families were attacked, who were not involved in any kind of politics. About 1000 families have been victims of extortion. 43 unprotected temples were vandalized in rural areas.
In response to a question, General Secretary of the Hindu Mahazot Govinda Chandra Pramanik said that the attacks on 132 ordinary Hindu families were neither communal nor political. This opportunity has been attacked due to land dispute, prior enmity.
Govinda Chandra Pramanik claims that when Awami League faces disaster, it brings up the issue of minorities. It has been seen before that Awami League leaders have tried to blame others by attacking the temple. This time, three people were caught during the attack on minorities, they are Awami League leaders and workers. No other political party leaders have been caught red-handed. However, whoever attacked the minorities, he demanded that every incident should be investigated and brought to justice.
