POBNEWS24,Dhaka Aug 26, 2022 : Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal commented that Bangabandhu was a great man born for a moment, the nation holds him in its heart as the greatest Bengali of all time.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the discussion meeting organized to commemorate the 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day at Rajarbagh Police Auditorium in the capital today.

Bangladesh Police Service Association organized this discussion meeting. The main speaker in the meeting was Bangabandhu’s private secretary, prominent economist and former governor of Bangladesh Bank. Mohammad Farasuddin.

The special guest was the senior secretary of the public security department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Akhtar Hossain and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Benazir Ahmed. President of Bangladesh Police Service Association, Additional IGP of Special Branch presided over the meeting. Monirul Islam.

The Home Minister said, ‘On that day, it was not believed that Bangabandhu, the father of the nation, would be killed. I stopped. We were shocked to see that not only Bangabandhu, but all his family members including Bangamata were martyred that day. An ASIO of the police was martyred there. who valiantly stepped forward to protect Bangabandhu. ‘

He said, ‘We have been carrying the black mark on our foreheads for a long time after losing Bangabandhu. I have traveled to many countries of the world. I was asked from all the countries that you are the nation which killed the father of your nation. ‘

He said, ‘After the liberation war, we did not have food in our food store. Bank savings were nil. There was no clothes to wear shirts and pants. The whole of Bangladesh was turned into a pile of rubble. From there, Bangabandhu was taking the country forward. He got help from all over the world. All the leaders of the world highly respected him, respected him, encouraged him to cooperate in any way. ‘

Thanking the police force, the home minister said, ‘When times of trouble come, the police turn around. As they stood up on that 25th March, just as they stood up to protect Bangabandhu, so did they stand up during Covid. The police force is now working as a frontline army all the time. So perhaps we have come to a place of relief. ‘

He said, ‘Bangabandhu dreamed of health, education and housing for all. Today it is his daughter who has Bangabandhu’s blood flowing in her veins, today she is carrying Bangabandhu’s ideals in her heart and realizing Bangabandhu’s dream. That is why our country is moving forward at a fast pace today. ‘

At the beginning of the program, a minute’s silence was observed to pay respect to Bangabandhu and his family members who were martyred on August 15, 1975. In the ceremony, a memorial was handed over to his son Mahfuzur Rahman, paying tribute to the memory of policeman ASI Siddiqur Rahman, who was killed at Dhanmondi number 32 on 15 August 1975.

Additional IGs, heads of various units of Dhaka police, senior officials and members of the association were present at the time.
