POBNEWS24, Dhaka Dec 6, 2024 : Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi SM Mahbubul Alam said that direct flights between Bangladesh and Pakistan will be launched soon. He said that this will strengthen business relations between the two countries.
This information was revealed in a report by Pakistani media outlet Express Tribune on Friday (December 6). The Express Tribune said that the Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh said this during a visit to the Hyderabad Chamber.
Mahbubul Alam also invited the Pakistani business community to participate in the annual trade exhibition to be held in Dhaka in January 2025. He assured that the visa process for Pakistani businessmen will be facilitated to facilitate their participation in the event to be held in Dhaka.
Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, has emphasized the potential for increasing trade with Pakistan, said Mahbubul Alam.
Mahbubul Alam said Bangladesh is earning billions of dollars in revenue by exporting its products to 80 countries. However, he stressed the need to further expand the relationship between the two countries through strong trade relations with Pakistan.
He also said that an exhibition for importers and exporters of the two countries will also be organized in Hyderabad in collaboration with the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries (HCSTSI).
HCSTSI President Muhammad Salim Memon said that Pakistan-Bangladesh relations are rooted in common history, culture, and trade.
He also mentioned the arrival of a cargo ship directly from Pakistan to Bangladesh on November 11, for the first time in history, as a milestone.
Memon urged Bangladeshi businessmen to actively participate in Pakistan’s exhibitions and also urged the High Commission to ensure proper facilities for Pakistani businessmen to attend the expo in Bangladesh. He said such initiatives would pave the way for greater trade cooperation between the two countries.
He also highlighted the challenges faced by Pakistani exporters in customs clearance in Dhaka and called for a speedy resolution of the problem. Muhammad Salim Memon also recommended the formation of a liaison committee to further facilitate such processes.
