POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Mar 3, 2022: A sailor of Bangladeshi-flagged ship MV “Banglar Samriddhi” was killed on Wednesday as the ship came under missile attack at a Ukrainian port on Wednesday.
The ship that arrived at port Olvia in Ukraine on February 22 became stranded due to Russian invasion of the pro-western country.
Bangladesh ambassador in Poland Sultana Laila Hossain, who has been concurrently responsible for Ukraine, confirmed the death of a seaman without mentioning the name of the deceased.
‘The Bangladesh shipping authorities would be the appropriate authority to announce the name of the deceased,’ she told POBNEWS24.
A crew member, Omar Faruk Tuhin, told POBNEWS24 over whatsapp from the stranded ship at the Ukraine’s port that the deceased was Hadisur Rahman, a third engineer of the ship.
