Bangladesh’s state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam has said the government has taken steps to bring back Bangladeshis stranded in Afghanistan.
The government is working to ensure they return within the next week. He said this to the media of Bangladesh today.
“We are very optimistic about bringing everyone in,” he said. We have come a long way with the help of some tripartite people to bring our citizens back safely. Hopefully everyone will be back in a week. He said they would be brought back from different places, not just Tashkent.
It is learned that at present there are 27 Bangladeshis in Afghanistan. The government is investigating them. Transit has been requested to bring Bangladeshis back to Uzbekistan. If necessary, Bangladesh will take the help of other neighboring countries.
Many Bangladeshis working in international organizations have left Afghanistan since the beginning of the crisis. Those detained are in contact with their families. They will return only if the government arranges a special flight or some other way.
Meanwhile, the state minister for foreign affairs also talked about launching flights with India. He told reporters that it would take more time. However, he did not mention any day-moment.
However, Indian diplomatic sources said the flight could be launched later this month or early next month. It is taking a little longer because Bangladesh has put a lot of conditions in this regard.
