POBNEWS24, Dhaka Aug 29, 2022 : Bangladesh Airlines Pilot Association (BAPA) has asked for an investigation into the allegations of irregularities in the recruitment of pilots in Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The organization said international and domestic laws were violated in the recruitment of pilots. Relatives of Air Force officers are favored in recruitment.
Last Thursday, the father sent a letter to the managing director of Biman.
However, the aviation authority has not officially given any statement regarding this letter.
In the letter, it is said that there have been irregularities, corruption and nepotism in the recruitment of pilots in the media. The appointment has been entrusted to the Chief of Air Training (COT). His wife has applied to become a pilot, which is definitely a conflict of interest. Biman’s operational instructions (manual), Biman’s contract with BAP have been grossly violated in the recruitment of pilots. Newly appointed contractual flight officers cannot fly regularly until they have flown 300 hours. Now Biman is spending huge amount of money to train these flight officers.
The letter said that no new pilot has been appointed to fly the Boeing-777 aircraft of Biman. However, crew recruitment notices are given and crew selection mails sent. An airline transport pilot in the rank of flight officer has given a false certificate in respect of licence. He did not do simulator training. He was later sent for training at the plane’s expense, which was a complete waste. For Boeing-777 aircraft, a junior pilot has been made a pilot trainer, bypassing senior pilots, which is unethical.
Bapa’s letter also said that due to negligence, the crew of Boeing-787 flight had to go abroad and take ZFTT and PPC training again (retake). It will cost the plane a huge sum of money.
