It can be seen that in different areas of Sharsha Upazila, cow hides weighing 5 Mondes are being sold at 300 to 400 and 10 ounces of cow hides at 600 taka.
On the other hand, in West Bengal, India, 5 mondes of sacrificial cow hides are being sold at Rs 400 to Rs 600 and 10 mondes of cow hides at Rs 600 to Rs 1,000 per piece, according to a special source..
According to the concerned sources, all the areas in Jessore where there is a possibility of skin smuggling have been kept under surveillance. Security has been beefed up at Gatipara, Bara Achra, Sadipur, Raghunathpur, Ghiba, Dhanyakhola, Putkhali and Goga, Kayba, Agrabhulot, Rudrapur, Kashipur, Shikarpur, Shalkona and Shahjatpur border areas of Benapole.

Jessore 49 BGB Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Colonel Selim Reza said the BGB has been kept on high alert to prevent smuggling of leather across the border into India.
