POBNEWS24, Amman ( Jordan ), May 3, 2024 : Bangladesh Embassy in Amman organized a unique fashion show by Bangladeshi fashion icon Bibi Russell last night on May 1, 2024 to mark the 53rd Independence and National Day of Bangladesh with participation of Bangladeshi female garments factory workers, working in Jordan, as models. According to Embassy press statement.

Mr. Wajih Tayeib Azaizeh, Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, were present, as the chief guest. Ambassadors, diplomats, high officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates including the Chief of Protocol, and other ministries, officers of the armed forces, journalists, academia and civil society attended the reception.

The guests were captivated by the fashion show titled ‘the Magical threads of Bangladesh’ by legendary Bangladeshi fashion designer Bibi Russell, where models were expatriate Bangladeshi and Jordanian female garment workers.

Nahida Sobhan, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Jordan,  mentioned that involving the girls from the garments industry to such a prestigious fashion show of Bibi Russel as her models was an effort to dismantle social barriers and embrace inclusivity.

The show reflected the life of the people of Bangladesh, their joy, celebrations, spirituality, attires and the harmony of the society.

In her speech, Ambassador Nahida Sobhan highlighted the remarkable economic growth of Bangladesh in recent years under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She mentioned that with a GDP of $460 billion and significant advancements in various sectors like textiles, electronics, pharmaceuticals, IT and shipbuilding, the country is becoming a prominent player in the global market.

She added that notably, Bangladeshi female workers, especially from underprivileged backgrounds, play a pivotal role in the country’s textile exports, making Bangladesh the second-largest exporter globally. The country’s emphasis on peace, stability, and development has been key to its rapid advancement.

The fashion show celebrating heritage and culture of Bangladesh was an awe-inspiring blend of tradition and modernity. Every garment, every strut, every intricate detail paid homage to Bangladesh’s rich history and vibrant traditions. It was a captivating display of creativity and artistry that left the audience spellbound, showcasing the beauty and elegance of Bangladesh’s cultural tapestry on the global stage.
