POBNEWS24, Dhaka Jan 10, 2025 : The government agency Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) had launched a program to sell oil, pulses and rice by truck for low-income people last October. As a result, 24,500 people in Dhaka and Chittagong had the opportunity to buy these products at subsidized prices every day, even if they did not have a TCB family card. The organization has stopped this program after running for only two months and seven days. The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) does not see the closure of these truck sales for low-income people in a positive light.

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) President Md. Shah Alam and General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince expressed their anger in a statement on January 10, saying that the government’s decision to close the truck sales of the TCB program, cancel 4.3 million family cards, and deprive about half a crore families of goods at low prices by not implementing the demand for eliminating middlemen and syndicates, universal ration system, and opening fair price shops to resolve the crisis in public life is in no way acceptable.

In the statement, the leaders expressed surprise and anger, saying that the government has decided to increase indirect taxes on the common people, such as increasing VAT on essential goods including daily food biscuits, general hotels, gas, etc., which will make the lives of the common people miserable.

The negative impact of this decision of the interim government due to high inflation and pressure from the IMF on marginal, permanent income earners, and low-middle income earners will also create a crisis in the country’s economy.

These decisions are in a way a policy of cutting the pockets of the people like an autocratic government. Which has been taken by the interim government.

The statement has called for the immediate cancellation of this decision of the government, recovery of money laundered abroad, defaulted loans and imposition of necessary special taxes on the rich.

In another statement, the attack on the shrine in Mymensingh, the creation of anarchy in various places including the Rani Shankail ceremony, the ‘mob’ bow, and the demand for immediate identification of the attackers and taking effective action against them and providing security to public life.

The statement has called on the countrymen to be aware and organized to resolve the crisis in public life and to achieve their own demands.
