POBNEWS24, Dhaka, May 2, 2023 : Last month (April) the country received much less rain than usual. However, the Meteorological Department has said that there will be normal rains in this month of May. They said, this month there may be one to two low pressure. And in the second week of the month, this low pressure may turn into a cyclone. The Department of Meteorology has said these things in the long-term weather forecast for the month of May. This forecast is given today Tuesday.

In the long-term forecast, the condition of April has been highlighted and it is said that there will be mild to moderate heat wave from 4th to 12th, moderate to severe from 13th to 22nd and mild to moderate heat wave from 24th to 30th. The country’s highest temperature of 43 degrees Celsius was recorded at Ishwardi in Pabna on 17 April. In this month, Dhaka division receives less rain than usual.

Although the month of April is very hot, the weather forecast says that there is a chance of normal rain in May. In this month, one to three days of moderate to severe thunderstorms with hail and three to five days of light to moderate thunderstorms may occur.

According to the month-long weather forecast, a severe heatwave may occur in the western part of the country this month. Apart from this, one to two mild or moderate heatwaves may occur elsewhere in the country. Day and night temperatures may be slightly higher than normal in this month.

According to the Meteorological Department, one to two low pressure areas may develop in the Bay of Bengal this month. One of these may turn into a cyclone in the second week of the month.

Director of Meteorological Department. Azizur Rahman told today that there may be a slight depression on May 8-9. It can turn into a cyclone. On 12th or 13th, the low pressure is likely to develop into a cyclone.

The Meteorological Department’s long-range forecast for April called for a cyclone. But it didn’t happen. Regarding the reason, director Azizur Rahman said that there is a normal cyclone in April. But this April was much hotter. There was no cyclone formation in the sea.

According to the forecast today, heavy rains upstream may cause short-term flash floods in northern and northeastern parts of the country.
