POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Mar 6, 2022 : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the Dhaka metropolis has been made habitable as far as possible due to the efforts of the government with limited energy. He directed the concerned authorities to keep the sidewalks unoccupied and take necessary steps for the movement of pedestrians. The Prime Minister also directed the concerned mayors for further development of waste management in areas like Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara.

The Prime Minister said, “Those of us who are engineers or architects, when they make a plan, at least make sure that the sidewalk is walkable and not occupied.”

“I will not blame anyone else, this defeat is done while we are planning,” he said. ‘

The Prime Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the project titled ‘Construction and Development of Road Infrastructure and Drainage System (Phase-I) of 16 wards newly included in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC)’ this afternoon.

He was virtually involved in a video conference from Ganobhaban on the premises of Kanchkura High School, Ward 44, DNCC.

Noting that densely populated Harirampur was once highly neglected, the Prime Minister said if the project is implemented, the standard of living of the people of the region will be further improved and people will be able to live in health.

Sheikh Hasina said, “We are trying to modernize, green and make Dhaka city habitable with limited energy. I have added 16 wards by adding new unions. He also expressed hope that the new Dhaka would become more beautiful through the projects that have been taken for the creation of various civic amenities including playgrounds and public toilets here.

Referring to the graduation of the country as a developing country through the efforts of the government, he said, “Today we have been able to come to a respectable place. We have to hold on to that and move forward. At the same time, we have to increase our civic benefits. ‘

Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed and Mayor Mohammad also spoke at the event chaired by Tajul Islam. Atiqul Islam.

Brigadier General SM Zakaria Hossain, Commander, 24 Engineering Corps, gave a PowerPoint presentation on the project, conducted by Helaluddin Ahmed, Senior Secretary, Local Government Department.
