POBNEWS24, Dhaka Jan 31,2022: The election of the Film Artists Association was held on January 26. The election is over but the debate is not over. Although Ilyas Kanchan-Nipun won the post of president from the panel, they demanded re-election as general secretary.
Nipun made the demand at a post-election press conference at the Abdus Salam Auditorium of the National Press Club today.
Nipun’s comment, ‘Peerzada Harun and Zayed Khan are a gang. ‘
The actress alleged that Peerzada Shahidul Harun, who was acting as the Election Commissioner, and Zayed Khan, who was contesting for the post of General Secretary, had worked together against the Kanchan-Nipun Parishad.
The press conference showed some screenshots of the chat between some officials of the administration and Zayed Khan. The Kanchan-Nipun panel claims it is a Facebook Messenger chat. All the talk there is quite offensive.
Complaining that the election of the Film Artists’ Association was not fair, the actress demanded to be re-elected as the General Secretary. Newly elected President Ilyas Kanchan has agreed with his demand.
Nipun said, ‘I want to get elected again. If Zayed Khan has the courage to come to the polls again. I have been lost by manipulating my position. ‘
Asked if there is a chance for re-election or whether it is in the constitution, Nipun said, “Yes, it is possible again if the election commissioner wants. If necessary, I will go to court on this issue.” Elias Kanchan also
agreed with Nipun. Said, ‘Since the deft victim. He is complaining that he should be re-elected. I agree with him too. ‘
Addressing Peerzada Harun, the actress Nipun said, ‘Peerzada Harun, what was your interest, why did you do that to us? I complained to you about paying voters, but you did not take action. Were the rules only for the Kanchan-Nipun panel? ‘
Nipun added, ‘Peerzada Harun is a government employee. I would say that where he works, the authorities should take action. Peerzada and Zayed Khan have worked together against us, conspired. I have lodged a GD with the police regarding safety of life. ‘
Addressing Zayed Khan, the actress said, ‘We took up position inside the barricade, but why didn’t Zayed Khan enter the barricade? Why did he go outside the barricade and buy votes with money. ‘
In the 2022-24 biennial election of Bangladesh Film Artists Association, actress Nipun lost to Zayed Khan by 13 votes. He expressed dissatisfaction with the results. He said the administration had treated him uncooperatively on election day.
Almost everyone on the panel, including Ilyas Kanchan, who won the presidency, was present at the press conference. After giving their speeches, the members of the panel answered all the questions of the journalists one by one. Ilyas Kanchan, Nipun, Riaz and other members of Kanchan-Nipun Parishad were present at the press conference.
