POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 5, 2022 : Firefighters were trying to put out the blaze at the BM Container Depot in Sitakunda, Chittagong. Many people were seen capturing videos and pictures to convey the news of the big fire. One of them is Oliur Rahman, a depot worker. He was standing near the scene for a long time and was live on Facebook. Sometimes he was talking and sometimes he was showing fire scenes. Within 40 minutes and 48 seconds of his live, the depot containers suddenly exploded with a loud noise. Then everything is dark on the camera of the mobile phone. All that could be heard was the screams of the people.
Oliur Rahman lost his life in the explosion at the container depot. Oliur’s home is in the village of Fotigil in Karmadha union of Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar. His father’s name was Ashiq Ali. He was a BM Container Depot worker.
Jonab Ali, a resident of the village, told Prothom Alo that he was watching the fire on Oliur’s live at around 11:30 pm yesterday (Saturday). The moment it goes viral. After a while he gets to see off live.
One of Oliver’s colleagues is named Ruel. Citing information from him, Jonab Ali said Ruel left the depot for food. But Oliver stayed there to make it live on Facebook. He was later killed in a container explosion. Rescue workers later took his injured body to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Oliur’s father Ashiq Ali told on his mobile phone at around 3 pm today that they tried to contact Oliur on his mobile phone after the accident but it was stopped. Later he found out that he (Oliver) had died in the explosion. They left for Chittagong to fetch the body of the boy.

Sitakunda Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Ashraful Karim confirmed the death toll in the first light. He said efforts were being made to control the fire.
Director of Chittagong Medical College Hospital Brigadier General Shamim Hasan toldĀ that many people have left for treatment so far. 60 are undergoing treatment. And 4 people are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
