Fear of heavy rains in Sylhet, water above danger level at 19 points

POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 21, 2022 : The water level is stable at four of the 109 points of the country’s rivers and is flowing over the danger line at 19 points. Water decreased by 29 points. The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said on Monday.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast said that due to the effect of active monsoon winds, rains may continue in most parts of eight divisions of the country even on Tuesday.

Besides, there may be heavy rain in five sections including Sylhet.

 

According to the flood forecasting and warning center, the water level in various rivers of the country has risen at 6 points and decreased at 29 points. According to a bulletin issued yesterday, the water level in four of the 109 points of the river is stable and the water level in 19 points is flowing above the danger level.

Nunkhawa, Hatia, Chilmari and Fulchhari of Brahmaputra, Bahadurabad, Sariakandi, Kazipur, Sirajganj and Porabari of Jamuna, Dharla of Kurigram, Ghaighat of Gaibandha, Kanaighat of Surmar 23cm, 102cm, 52cm, 51cm, 48cm, 51cm, 43cm, 34cm, 20cm, 44cm, 32cm, 115cm, 55cm, 40cm, 164cm, 63cm, 115cm , Flowing over 102 cm and 92 cm.

According to the Meteorological Department forecast for the next 24 hours yesterday evening, monsoon winds are active over Bangladesh and moderate conditions are prevailing in the North Bay. Meteorologist Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick told Kaler Kanth: “Most parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers on Tuesday. There may be moderate to very heavy rainfall in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. “The rains are likely to continue till next Thursday,” he said.
