POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 16, 2023 : According to the latest news, 12 vehicles have been torched across the country since the announcement of the upcoming 12th National Assembly election schedule.
The fire service received reports of 12 vehicle fires in 15 hours from 6pm on Wednesday (November 15) to 9am on Thursday (November 16). Talha bin Jasim, media officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense Directorate, gave this information.
Talha bin Jassim said that since the announcement of the schedule, 12 vehicles have caught fire so far. Two in Doha, Tangail of Dhaka, one in Jhalkathi of Barisal division, five in Natore, Bogra, Chapainawabganj of Rajshahi division, two in Chittagong, Chandpur of Chittagong division, one in Sylhet Sadar.
Two buses, two covered vans, five trucks, two Lagunas, three coaches of a train were burnt in this incident. 21 units and 116 personnel of fire service and civil defense are working to extinguish the fire.
According to the fire service, a covered van was set on fire at Naya Bazar in Banpara area of Natore at 6:05 pm. Then at 8:43 pm a lagoon in Sylhet Sadar, at 10:55 am a covered van in Bogra, at 11 am a truck in Doha market, at 10:50 am two buses were set on fire in Khulshi, Chittagong.
Besides, at 12:15 PM in a truck at Mohipur in Bogra, at 12:25 PM in a lagoon in Jhalkathi, at 12:50 PM in a truck in Bogra, at 1 PM in a minitruck at Shivganj in Chapainawabganj, at 3:20 PM in the Tangail Commuter train in Tangail Sadar and at 3:50 PM in front of the rural electricity office in Hajiganj, Chandpur. The truck was set on fire.
