POBNEWS24, Dhaka, July 26, 2022 : Torrential rains have continued in Pakistan for several days. Karachi received more than 60 mm of rain on Sunday night. BBC reported that new flooding has occurred in various parts of the port city of Karachi.
Considering the situation, a public holiday has been declared in Karachi.
Business establishments have also been requested to remain closed. However, the locals complained of not getting any kind of assistance from the government.
Torrential rains caused flash floods in Karachi, causing infrastructural damage and inundation of roads. Apart from this, at least 15 deaths have been reported.
Schools and colleges as well as markets are closed due to waterlogging. Local residents are suffering in this situation. A local resident said, ‘It is raining heavily. Water entered our colony from the road. Many houses have also sunk. I worked all night to remove the water. Due to which I could not sleep properly. I don’t know how to protect myself from this dirty water. ‘
This flooding is due to the city’s drains and canals being blocked. Locals are blaming the indifference of the authorities for this. In the meantime, the Meteorological Department has predicted that rainfall will continue across Sindh province till July 27.
Another local person said, ‘We have been with dirty water since last night. No one has come to our rescue yet. I am here with my little child. All the furniture in my house was destroyed by water. ‘
