POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Apr 14, 2021: Former Law Minister Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru died on Wednesday afternoon while undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) due to COVID-19 in the capital city of Dhaka in Bangladesh.
He breathed his last around 4:50pm, deputy attorney general A M Amin Uddin Manik confirmed the matter to Pobnews.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, the newly elected president of the Supreme Court Bar Association was put on life support after his physical condition deteriorated.
He was admitted to CMH on March 16 after he had tested positive for coronavirus.
An Awami League MP from Cumilla-5, Abdul Matin Khasru served the first Sheikh Hasina cabinet as law minister from 1997 to 2001.
Earlier, President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker of the Parliament. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, current Law Minister Anisul Haque, Foreign Minister Abdul Momen have expressed their deep grief over the death of Abdul Matin Khasru.
Apart from this, Abdur Razzak, Managing Director of JMI, a well-known business organization of Bangladesh, and Humayun Rashid, President of IBFB have also expressed their condolences.
