POBNEWS24, Sep 14, 2021 :The Channel I Music Awards started 17 years ago at the Sheraton (Intercontinental) in Dhaka. This event has been organized in Qatar and Kolkata by visiting different districts of the country. This time the event is taking place in New York, USA. Ijaz Khan Swapan, the project director of this year’s event, told the news in the first light.

The Channel I authorities have decided to honor those who have contributed to the country’s music for 50 years at the event to be held on November 14 at JW Marriott in New York.

Shaheen Akhter Reni, President of Oikya Foundation, the main sponsor, told a press conference at Channel I on Sunday night that Channel I Director and Head of Message Sheikh Siraj said, “50 years of independence have passed. We want to celebrate it on a large scale. Our slogan this time is “Bangladesh Song of 50 Years of Independence”. We would like to pay special tribute to the 50 lyricists, composers, music directors and vocalists who have enriched our music scene in these 50 years. We are organizing this from that thought. ‘

Ijaz Khan Swapan said that the names of the honored artists will be announced from New York on November 14. A portion of these 50 will be honored in New York. The rest of the artists will be honored at another event in Dhaka in December. Two shows from New York and Dhaka will be aired together on the first day of 2022 on Channel I. This time there will be no competition. Everyone involved with Bangladeshi music in the United States will be invited.

Apart from Sheikh Siraj, the main sponsor of the event was Shaheen Akhter Renee, President of Oikya Foundation. Virtually from the United States were Zahiruddin Mahmud Mamun, director of Impress Telefilm and Channel I and project head of Channel I Music Awards-2021, Rabindra Sangeet artist Rezwana Chowdhury Bonya, musician Rathindranath Roy and others. Veterans from Dhaka were Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam and artist Rafiqul Alam. This year’s Channel I Music Awards will be sponsored by Euclid.com.bd from Bangladesh and Desi Music Entertainment from New York.
