They gathered on the roof of a multi-storey building and flew fireworks and lanterns.
Before and after the last sunset of 2021, a large number of people gathered in the area of Student-Teacher Center (TSC) of Dhaka University, but due to the direction of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), other than the teachers-students and staff of the university had to leave in the evening. As soon as the clock reached 12 o’clock, the students gathered at the foot of the Raju sculpture of TSC and gathered in front of it and blew lanterns. At the same time fireworks were thrown from the gate adjacent to the TSC of Suhrawardy Udyan. The TSC area was illuminated by fireworks.
At this time fireworks were set off all over the city. Although they could not gather in the open under the direction of the police, the city dwellers welcomed the new year by taking position on the roof of their building.
Rabiul Islam, a student of the Department of Population Sciences, Dhaka University, who took part in the TSC celebrations, told Prothom Alo: Hopefully, the new year will bring all-round good for our country and university, all the filth will be washed away. ‘

The President hoped that Bangladesh would move forward on the path of immense potential in the new year. In the message, he said, corona infection in Bangladesh is now under control.
