POBNEWS24, Dhaka , May 11, 2024 : Government employees will get five consecutive days off on Eid-ul-Azha this year. Out of this, 3 days are Eid holidays and the remaining 2 days are weekends.
Eid al-Adha may be celebrated in the country on June 17 (Monday) depending on the sighting of the moon. As such, the list of public holidays has been determined. According to the list of holidays, the Eid holiday will start from June 16 (Sunday), the day before Eid. Which will continue till June 18 (Tuesday).
Before this, there is a weekend on June 14 and 15 (Friday and Saturday). According to that, the government officials-employees are getting a total of five days leave.
Eid-ul-Azha is one of the two major religious festivals of Muslims. Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Azha two months and 10 days after Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to the Hijri calendar, Eid-ul-Azha lasts for three days starting from the 10th of the month of Zilhajj until the 12th.
This time 10 Zilhaj or Qurbani Eid may be on 16th or 17th of June. According to the announcement of the Moon Sighting Committee of Saudi Arabia, Eid al-Adha will be celebrated in the country on June 16.
Generally, Eid al-Adha is celebrated in Bangladesh on the day after Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, and the Arab Emirates. As such, there is a possibility that Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on June 17 in the country. But this date may change depending on moon sighting.
