POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 21, 2021: BNP lawmakers have called on the president to release BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and arrange for her medical treatment abroad.

They made the call at a human chain at the South Plaza of the National Assembly on Sunday.

“We are appealing to an illegitimate government today,” said Golam Mohammad Siraj, an MP from Bogra-4 constituency.

At the crossroads of life and death of our leader Begum Khaleda. The government is running like their own. The law minister is talking crazy delirium. He has given a positive and negative statement regarding section 401. He said Begum Zia would have to re-apply after entering the jail.

He called for the release of Khaleda Zia by declaring her house a sub-jail and said that a sub-jail should be declared where Begum Zia is. Arrangements should be made to release him from there and take him abroad.

Harunur Rashid, MP from Chapainawabganj-3 constituency, said Bangladesh has reached a place where basic human rights, rule of law, are completely absent.

Today, I have no language of condemnation, no language of protest for what the Prime Minister has said about the treatment of Begum Khaleda Zia at a recent press conference. He said.

Harun said that, since coming to power in 1996 and 2008, the government has so far commuted the sentences of more than 30 convicts. Illegally breaking the law. Accused of murder, Yaba emperor, human traffickers, money launderers are roaming around openly but the government has continued to unjustly oppress the three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

If Begum Khaleda Zia has any unexpected situation, you will not force us to leave Parliament. Harun said.

MP and BNP Opposition Whip Barrister Rumin Farhana said, “As you know, Khaleda Zia has been repeatedly requested by her family for better treatment abroad.” She is at the crossroads of life and death. The people of the country know what happened to him in the last three years when she was in prison. This government has to take the responsibility.

“We see the president go to Germany, England for a little bit of sneezing, coughing, cold treatment and even routine checkups,” she said. But our government party MPs hear that his best treatment is happening in Bangladesh. If the best treatment was in Bangladesh, then why do we see even ordinary people rushing to neighboring India for treatment.

Rumin Farhana said Begum Zia has been tortured in the last three years. she was not given any treatment. If she could have been treated for his illness, if the government had given him that opportunity, she would not be in this condition today. Rumin Farhana said that Begum Khaleda Zia is a victim of political revenge.

“As a lawyer, I want to say that the government can take any decision with the power of 401,” said Rumin Farhana.

MP Abdun Sattar of Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, Mosharraf Hossain of Bogra-4 and Aminul Islam of Chapainawabganj-2 constituency also were present.
