India’s Ministry of External Affairs’ spokesperson Arindam Bagchi made this comment in response to a question at the weekly briefing on Thursday.
The spokesperson also said that the voting will be held as the people of Bangladesh want. They will decide everything. He did not want to comment on the demand to hold elections under a caretaker government.
Various countries are now active about the election situation in Bangladesh. The international world is making various comments and suggestions. The activities of the main opposition parties have also increased around the elections.
The Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh also held a meeting with the leaders of the main opposition BNP after many days. After that meeting, BNP leaders said that they hoped that a caretaker government would be formed before the polls.
When asked about India’s attitude on these issues, Arindam Bagchi said that there are many types of activities around the elections in that country. Many are commenting. The international world is also commenting a lot. But India is India. India’s relationship with Bangladesh is very close. The reaction of events in Bangladesh falls on India.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in this context that the election and democratic process of Bangladesh will be according to the will of the people of that country. India is closely monitoring it. But India is not in a position to comment on that right now. He said, India wants the elections to be as planned. Let there be a peaceful election without violence.
The spokesperson did not want to say anything about the BNP leaders’ comments about the caretaker government. He also did not comment on the meeting of BNP leaders with the High Commissioner of India.
