POBNEWS24, Dhaka Apr 9, 2024 : India lost 91 bigha of land after 70 years. The lands were occupied by India for so long. After 70 years, BSF handed over 91 bigha land of Jagdal and Baliadangi Beurjhari border of Ranishankoil upazila in Thakurgaon district of Bangladesh to BGB. Bangladesh has hung a white flag (target) on the recovered land. Thakurgaon 50 BGB has confirmed this information through a press release today, Tuesday, April 9.

There is a flood of joy among the border people as they regained the right to enter the 91 bigha land under the Khas Khatiya of the government. BGB started working to recover the lands about a month ago.

According to BGB, Thakurgaon Battalion (50 BGB) made necessary communication and coordination with the delegation of Bangladesh Land Records and Survey Directorate for smooth planning and timely initiative. As such, through the joint survey of the Bangladesh-India Survey Department in the responsible border area of Jagdal of Ranishankoil Upazila and Beurjhari BOP of Baliadangi Upazila, about 15 bigha of land in the responsible area of Jagdal BOP and about 76 bigha of land in the responsible area of Beurjhari BOP (total 91 bigha) were recovered in the possession of India. . Among the lands received in favor of Bangladesh are 77 bighas of arable land, 11 bighas of tea gardens and 3 bighas of river beds.

According to the Thakurgaon Battalion Strip Map, the lands were already confirmed as belonging to Bangladesh. During the flag meeting held between the BGB and the Indian Border Guard Force BSF, a strong claim was presented by the BGB that the lands belong to Bangladesh. Later it was further stated by the BGB that a joint survey by surveyors is required to settle the matter.

In view of the said incident, a joint survey and inspection was conducted in the presence of BGB-BSF in the presence of BGB-BSF in the presence of Bangladesh Land Record and Survey Directorate Assistant Survey and Charge Officer and Indian Survey Department on March 6 and 7 to demarcate the boundaries of Jagdal and Beurjhari BOP under the responsibility of Thakurgaon Battalion. . As a part of that, on March 6, Jagdal conducted a survey in BOP’s responsible area and found about 15 bighas of land occupied by India in favor of Bangladesh and about 7.5 bighas of land occupied by Bangladesh. Then on March 7, after carrying out a survey in the responsible area of Beurjhari BOP, about 76 bigha of land occupied by India was found in favor of Bangladesh. On the other hand, India gets about 16 bighas of land occupied by Bangladesh.

Incidentally, in the said survey, the amount of land received by Bangladesh is 91 bighas and the amount of land received by India is 23.5 bighas.

Thakurgaon Battalion (50 BGB) has made necessary coordination with the Thakurgaon District Administration for the purpose of handing over the Bangladeshi lands obtained through the joint survey of the Survey Department of Bangladesh and India to the real owner through the local administration.

Thakurgaon 50 BGB Commander Lt. Col. Tanzeer Ahmed said, “We initially understand that these lands belong to Bangladesh and some parts of the Jagdal and Beurjhari borders are Bangladeshi lands. It is in this context that we talk to India and call for a survey. We request them to actually do the land surveying. We found these lands through joint survey of Bangladesh BGB and BSF.
