POBNEWS24, Dhaka Sep 20, 2021 :Music star James went to court to file a case against mobile service provider Banglalink for using music in violation of copyright law. On Sunday morning, the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge returned the application and advised James to file a case with Gulshan Police Station.
James’ lawyer Tapash Kumar Pal filed the case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Imrul Kayes around 11am on Sunday. James was present at the time. The court then returned the case and advised him to go to the police station, confirmed James’ lawyer Tapas Kumar Pal.
Tapas Kumar Pal, Additional Public Prosecutor for the state in the court, said some of James’ popular songs were using Banglalink without his permission. They kept on saying that they would stop it several times. In response, he came to sue under copyright law. But the court returned the case and advised him to go to Gulshan police station and file a case. The court said that if the police station does not take up the case, then the court has suggested a case.
James did not make a statement on the matter. His manager Rubaiyat Tagore said, ‘We went to court with a copyright issue. I took legal advice with lawyers and got some directions. The case has not been filed yet.
Many of James’ songs are still being used commercially by various organizations without permission. Banglalink is one of them. James is going to take refuge in the law this time without getting any solution about using the artist’s song by breaking the copyright law without permission.
