POBNEWS24, Dhaka, May 16, 2023 : Journalist and eminent poet Syeda Rashida Bari was conferred with the title of ‘Sahitto Rani’ for her contribution to literature.
As part of the award, she received a crest and a citation at a function near Chapra union parishad Eidgah maidan in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia district recently.
Supported by Bangladesh Adhunik Sahitto and Sanskritik Parishad and Bhabnai Bangladesh, Bangladesh Dustho Etim Pathoshishu Sangha gave the award at an Eid reunion programme.
Momtaj Begum, general secretary of Kumarkhali Public Library, attended as the chief guest at the programme.
Mohammad Kalam Sheikh, a human rights activist, chaired the event.
Mohammad Shah Alam, chairman of Pathoshishu Sangha, Mohammad Reazuddin Sheikh, advisor of the organization, were present among others.
Indian poet Toma Karmaker, two Indian journalists Sampa Das and Samaresj Roy were also present.
So far, Syeda Rashida Bari got 80 awards, citations and titles at local and national levels for her contribution to literature and social services.
A multi-dimensional writer, Syeda Rashida Bari is the author of over 100 books. She is lyricist of Bangladesh Betar, BTV and film.
Syeda Rashida Bari is the editor-cum-publisher of the Dhaka-based monthly magazine ‘The Swapner Desh’.
