POBNEWS24, Dhaka Dec 15, 2024 : The National Liberation Front will hold a freedom fighter rally on December 21 to mark Victory Day. BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be present and speak as the chief guest.
BNP Media Cell Member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed this information to the media. She will join the Freedom Fighters’ Rally to be held at the China Friendship Conference Center in the capital.
It is learned that through this rally, the BNP Chairperson will join a rally after a long 7 years. Earlier, on November 12, 2017, Khaleda Zia attended the Revolution and Solidarity Day ceremony at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital as the chief guest.
It is worth noting that she was also at Senakunj to attend the Armed Forces Day reception ceremony on November 21.
Meanwhile, BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi, expressing distrust and sarcasm towards the Yunus government, said, “Your government has failed to control prices. It has not been able to break the market syndicate of the fallen dictator. Identify them, bring the middlemen under the law. Extortion is still happening on the streets in cars. BNP can try to stop all this, but it will not be able to stop it. It is the responsibility of the government. Even if the government tries to prevent all this, the enthusiasm is low. If the people cannot live comfortably than before, they will be disappointed. If not, resign and leave.” He said this while speaking at the winter clothing distribution program of the Nationalist Farmers’ Party Metropolitan North in front of the Shokhon Community Center in Mohammadpur in the capital on Sunday (December 15) afternoon. He said, “An advisor said that political parties have not been able to do anything in 50 years, we are doing it. So who brought the success of the Liberation War of 1971, 1990 and 24? Are these the contributions of civil society? The rights movement started in England 800 years ago. Even in big developed countries, state reforms are never done by retiring politicians.
Criticizing the statement of an advisor on reforms, Rizvi said, it is an expression of ego. The reforms that take a state on the path of progress were thought of by scholars, and political parties implemented them. If real reforms are made, the reforms of elections, rule of law, and judiciary, which are essential parts of democracy, should not be delayed.
On the other hand, retired Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Home Affairs Advisor to the interim government, commented that robberies have increased in the capital Dhaka. He also said that robberies are increasing in the morning in the capital.
He said this in response to questions from journalists after the meeting of the Law and Order Advisory Council on Sunday (December 16).
