POBNEWS24, Chottrogram, Jul 17,2021: Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that the use of lethal weapons by the border guards of the two countries will be stopped soon. He also expressed hope that the killings on the border would be stopped if the commitments made on the border between the two countries.
He was responding to reporters ‘questions after a concluding parade of young soldiers at the Border Guard Training Center and College (BGTC & C)’ s Bir Uttam Mojibur Rahman Parade Ground at Baitul Izzat in Satkania, Chittagong on Saturday (July 18th).
Mr. Kamal said accidents often occur due to misunderstandings at the border. For this reason, discussions are going on at the ministerial level and at the BGB-BSF level as well. The use of lethal weapons by the border guards of the two countries on the border will stop soon.
“We have become more active in stopping smuggling at the border,” he said. Not only have we increased the number of BOPs at the border, we have improved the Border Circulation System. Not only that, say motor vehicles and say modern technology, everything we have collected and enriched the BGB. The kind of smuggling that existed 10-15 years ago is no more. We are committed to zero in on all forms of smuggling.
“We have some houses very close to the border,” he said of the killings at the border. It is often seen that there is a spiritual relationship with those people in the border areas and there is always travel to India. This is also the reason for many accidents.
On bringing cows across the border, the Home Minister said, “Our country’s cattle farms have improved a lot.” During a visit to India last year, Home Minister Amit Shah said Bangladesh would not be given cows. Kamal said, “If India does not give cows, we also do not want to take cows. Because our farms have prospered enough. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. However, our BGB is in a strict position in this regard.
