POBNEWS24, Dhaka Nov 26, 2021 : Liton Das scored the first century of his Test career against Pakistan in Chittagong. After making his Test debut in 2015, he had been knocked out of the nineties twice before.
Liton is doing well in Tests this year. He has been in the series since the series against the West Indies in January. He has scored four fifty runs in 9 innings. Century was not just getting. Harare came close to a century in the Test against Zimbabwe last July. But his innings stopped at 95 runs. He could not do very well in limited overs cricket, especially in T20. His collection is worth mentioning in just one innings in T20 World Cup. He was dropped from the squad for the T20 series against Pakistan. However, he retained his form in the Tests.

He took to the field in a catastrophic condition of the team. Mushfiqur Rahim made a pair of 204 runs. His own hundred, of course, came with a lot of risk. When he reached the house of ninety, he became a little shaky. Naturally, if a batsman has a record of frequent dismissals in the shaky nineties before his career, then his batting pressure is bound to have a big impact. Noman Ali pushed the ball of full length outside the off stump to mid-off and he ran for the run. Shahin Shah Afridi grabbed the ball and threw it to the non-striking end. He could have been run out if he had been a little sideways. But luck was with him on this journey.
Liton has also shared a record by scoring a century. He played most Tests for Bangladesh and got a century. Reaching three figures in the 26th Test, he is sitting next to Khaled Masood.
At the end of the day, Liton’s collection is 113. With 225 balls, he had 11 boundaries and a six in his innings. His partner Mushfiqur Rahim is unbeaten on 52 off 190 balls for the fifth wicket. At the end of the first day of the test in Chittagong, Bangladesh collected 253 for 4 wickets.
