POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Aug 7, 2022 :

16:48, August 07

Raja’s third wicket

Sikandar Raja was brought in by Chakava in the 48th over as well. Raja gets his third wicket back to Taskin, Taskin is lbw. Mahmudullah still unbeaten at the other end, Bangladesh 273 for 7 with 12 balls to spare.

16:45, August 07

Mahmudullah sent the ball on the roof

Brad Evans came in to bowl Chiwanga’s incomplete over. Mahmudullah got his first ball in the slot and sent it outside the field. The ball stuck on the ceiling of the dressing room.

Stretcher in the field again

This scene was seen twice in the first match. Liton Das and Shariful Islam left the field on stretchers. A stretcher was seen on the field again today. Tanaka Chivanga got up now. He got injured while bowling his ninth over.

Mahmudullah’s fifty

Mahmudullah was caught in Chiwanga’s high fouls, but it was a clear no. His 26th career fifty has become in that doubles. It took 69 balls today.

16:32, August 07

LBW Mirage

Mushfiqur took the catch while sweeping the slug. Mirage could not put it on the bat. Sikandar King’s ball, however, was full length, not exactly sweeping length. He misread the length and was lbw, scoring 15 off 12 balls.

Bangladesh lost the sixth wicket with 4 overs left, 249 runs.

16: 22, August 07

Afif returned

Afif stopped with 41 runs off 41 balls. Sikandar went for a reverse sweep at the king’s ball, but could not lift it properly. The ball goes straight to short third man. Afif hit 4 fours in an innings of 100 strike rate, those fours came in 2 consecutive overs.

Afif’s partnership with Mahmudullah scored 81 runs off 82 balls.

16: 19, August 07

This time Afif survived

Afif’s shot was not supposed to be a double. But it was too late to return to the crease.

Bradley Evans went to field on his own at mid-on, but was eventually fielded by Veseoli Madhevere. After running and catching it, he threw, but it was not as good. If the throw was right, Afif would have returned with 41 runs. Earlier, Mahmudullah also survived the runout.

Madhevere got injured again while making that throw. He went up with physio.

10 overs left…

162/1.

144/4.

Bangladesh’s second powerplay score (10-40) in two ODIs. Bangladesh entered the third powerplay with 206 runs. How much can they add in the last 10 overs?

15:57, August 07

Third Fifty pair

Tamim-Enamul. Mushfiq-Nazmul. Afif-Mahmudullah. Bangladesh got the third fifty match. The last pair of half-centuries came in 56 balls.

15:52, August 07

Aggressive Afif

There were 11 runs off the first 17 balls. Afif scored another 20 runs off the next 10 balls. He hit four fours during this period, two of which came in the last over by Madhevere. The first is a slog sweep through cow corner, the second over the head of mid-on. Bangladesh’s run per over has risen above 5 again.

15:47, August 07

Afif’s two fours, Mahmudullah dunks

In the first match, Mahmudullah played a cameo innings of 20 runs off 12 balls in the 46th over. Today has to come in the 24th over. Hit two boundaries, but the experienced batsman has not yet found the right rhythm. Scored 24 runs off 44 balls.

Playing on the same wicket as the previous day, the wicket is a bit slower. There, Mahmudullah is not able to come out of the tight bowling of the Zimbabweans.

Afif Hossain hit Luc Janguet for two consecutive fours in the 37th over. Bangladesh score 184 runs with 13 overs left.

15:23, August 07

How much will Bangladesh do today?

15: 18, August 07

Nazmul had to return

Nazmul seemed shaky for quite some time. This time he returned by punching the ball outside the off-stump of Madhever. It was very close to the body, Nazmul was caught while playing a cut shot. 38 runs – This is his highest score in 12 ODIs.

Afif Hossain joined the crease with Mahmudullah after Nazmul returned. 4 wickets at the end of 30 overs Bangladesh score 151 runs.

15: 09, August 07

Now Nazmul survived

Nazmul suddenly came forward and went to play. Couldn’t reach the pitching place of the ball properly, the shot played by Agbarada goes up in the sky. Bradley Evans at mid-on ran back, but couldn’t track the ball properly. A last-minute dive did not reach. But Zimbabwe could have got another wicket if it was a little bit here and there. In the last 3 overs, the hosts lost the opportunity to dismiss both the batsmen – Nazmul and Mahmudullah.

15: 01, August 07

Mahmudullah survived

Enamul had a misunderstanding with Tamim, though Tamim survived. Then Enamul had to return after being run out by Nazmul’s bowlers back drive. This time Mahmudullah escaped from the runout. Mahmudullah went to steal a single after being pushed to point by Luc Janguere. Madhevere’s throw would have had to return if it broke the stumps directly. Survived for now.

Mid-way through the innings, Bangladesh scored 129 runs after 25 overs.

14:54, August 07

Mushfiqur, slog sweep and out

Mushfiqur sweeps the slog as Madhever throws it… Caught by Munyonga at midwicket. He returned with 25 runs off 31 balls, but he got a fifty in the previous match but this time he stopped early. Good catch by Madhevere. The pair of Nazmul and Mushfiq stopped at 50 runs.

Zimbabwe are bowling with pacers from one end and spinners from the other end. Mushfiq and Nazmul are batting. So far, the two have made a partnership of 44 runs off 50 balls. Bangladesh 122 for 2 at the end of 21 overs.

14:32, August 07

One hundred of Bangladesh!

In the 18th over, Mushfiqur Rahim completed Bangladesh’s team collection of 100 by pushing Sikandar Raja to square leg with 1 run. Raja is playing quite well. Till now bowled 4 overs without getting any wicket but gave only 13 runs.

Bangladesh 104 for 2 at the end of 18 overs.

14:27, August 07

Bad fielding by Zimbabwe

The Zimbabwean fielder could not stop Tamim Iqbal’s drive in the first over of Bangladesh’s innings. He could catch the ball easily. Later the hosts made some more fielding misses inside the 30 yard circle. Even in the 17th over, Nazmul Hossain’s drive went through the hands of the Zimbabwean fielder for four. Beautiful!

Bangladesh 99 for 2 at the end of 17th over. Shanto is unbeaten on 21 balls. 6 runs from 11 balls by Mushfiqur. Water break.

14:20, August 07

Bangladesh 87/2 at the end of 15 overs

Bangladesh scored an average of 5.8 runs per over. Nazmul Hossain unbeaten on 11 runs from 16 balls. At the other end, Mushfiq is batting with 3 runs from 5 balls.

14:10, August 07

Nazmul shot Enamul out!

Bad luck! Nazmul Hossain played a straight drive to Zimbabwean pacer Tanaka Chivanga in the 13th over. The ball hits Chiwanga’s hands and smashes the stumps on a non-strike. Enamul, the batsman at that end, left the crease at that time. Run out!

Enamul returned with 20 runs off 25 balls. Bangladesh 77 for 2 in 12.2 overs. Two new batsmen on the wicket. Nazmul and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 5 runs in 6 balls.
