Commemorating the brave policemen who sacrificed their lives in the Great War of Liberation with deep respect, the Prime Minister said that the Awami League government is taking all kinds of timely activities to develop the Bangladesh Police as a people-friendly modern technology-based institution capable of dealing with contemporary challenges such as cybercrime, militancy and counter-terrorism, money laundering etc. accepted

The Prime Minister pointed out that in this era of globalization and digitalization, criminals are using readily available technology and always adopting new strategies to spread their crimes internationally and regionally. In this regard, every phase of police operations is being digitized to keep pace with the world to meet the new challenges related to information and communication technology in this era of international, regional and local technology-based crime prevention and crime detection and the fourth industrial revolution.

Sheikh Hasina said that since the establishment of the Naval Police in 2013, this unit has been carrying out the duties assigned to them with professionalism and efficiency through the limited infrastructural facilities. At present, the Naval Police is playing an important role in improving the law and order situation of the inland waterways by carrying out round-the-clock duties, preserving the national resources of the river including hilsa, jatka and other aquatic resources, dealing with various natural disasters and preventing river pollution and protecting the navigability.
