POBNEWS24 Desk Report, Dhaka Mar 7, 2021 :Hosts New Zealand beat Australia 5-2 in the fifth and final T20 to win the five-match series 3-2. Williamson lost to Ajid by 7 wickets in Wellington on Sunday.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 142 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Matthew Wade top-scored with 44 runs. 37 runs came from the bat of captain Aaron Finch. Marcus Stones also scored 26 runs.
New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi took 3 wickets. Tim Southee and Trent Bolt took 2 wickets each.
Martin Guptill and Devon Conway scored 106 runs in the opening over. Conway returned with 36 runs but Guptill completed half a century. He scored 61 runs from 48 balls. Glenn Phillips remained unbeaten on 34 runs. With 28 balls and 8 wickets in hand, the Kiwis anchored in the port of victory.
Martin Guptill was named Man of the Match and Is Sodhi Man of the Series. After losing to Ajid, New Zealand will play against Bangladesh on their own soil. Dudul will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20s. The first ODI will be held on March 20.
