POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Dec 11,2021: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been performing its duties with humanity since its inception. A total of 421 criminals, including militants and pirates, have already surrendered. They are now back to normal life. No other force in the world has given the RAB such an opportunity for human surrender. RAB has not looted human rights but continues to protect human rights.

Khandaker Al Moin, Director of RAB’s legal and media wing, made the remarks at a press conference at RAB Media Center in the capital’s Karwan Bazar on Saturday (December 11th).

According to the RAB, the surrendered include 328 in the Sundarbans and 77 pirates and 16 militants in Banshkhali in Chittagong.

Khandaker al-Moin said he had learned about the US sanctions through the media. Officially I don’t know anything yet. I can’t say anything about this until I get the official letter.

He said that our 9,000-strong force (members), 28 members of this force, including Lieutenant Colonel Azad, gave their lives. And in order to protect human rights and uphold the rule of law, we have lost more than a thousand members. More than 2,000 members were injured. There is no force in the world whose 9,000 members have made such sacrifices for the protection of law and order and human rights.

The US Treasury Department on Friday (December 10) banned 15 individuals and 10 organizations from various countries on the occasion of International Human Rights Day. The country has imposed sanctions on the RAB and six of its officials for alleged human rights abuses.

According to a statement published on the website of the US Department of Revenue, the current police chief on the list of sanctions. There is the name of Benazir Ahmed.

Also present are RAB’s current Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Additional Director General (Operations) Khan Mohammad (KM) Azad, former Additional Director General (Operations) Tofail Mostafa Sarwar, former Additional Director General (Operations) Md. Jahangir Alam, former Additional Director General (Operations) Anwar Latif Khan and former RAB-7 captain (Lieutenant Colonel) Miftah Uddin Ahmed.
