POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 15, 2022 : After 10 days of continuous step-by-step testing, all the lights of the Padma Bridge were lit simultaneously on Tuesday evening. The electricity supplied by Munshiganj and Jajira Palli Bidyut Samiti illuminated 415 lamps on the bridge. At first, 205 lamps were lit at 5:34 pm at Mawa. 20 minutes later, 210 lights on the Jazira side lit up.

The lights were supposed to be on all night yesterday.

When the lights of the Padma Bridge were lit at the same time for the first time, the people of Padmapar were overwhelmed. They enjoy the view of the light spread across the river. Ferry passengers on the waterway also stare at the lights on the bridge.

kalerkanthoPadma Multipurpose Bridge Project Executive Engineer Dewan. Abdul Quader said, ‘After setting the lights on the lamppost of the bridge, the test was carried out step by step. Today (yesterday) all the lights have been lit for the test at once. Now it will be checked whether the lights are working properly or not. ‘

According to project sources, successful testing of 415 lamps of the bridge was completed last Friday starting from June 4. Lampposts and lights will not be harmed by the wind speed of 200 kilometers per hour. During the day, if there is a lack of light in cloudy sky or thick fog, the lights will be lit automatically.

Meanwhile, various decorations including murals, nameplates, hilsa sculptures on both sides of the Padma will be finalized around the inauguration of the Padma Bridge on June 25. Deshbarenya artists are doing theme songs on the bridge. In the meantime, shooting of this theme song has also been done on the bridge.

The people of Padmapar and the surrounding areas are overjoyed to see the preparations for the inauguration. The bridge will change the fortunes of the south-western part of the country, including changing the socio-economic and communication system. With the launch of the bridge, the common people of the country will get the full benefits of the country’s first expressway Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga-Khulna. New broad gauge railway line, gas transmission line, fiber optical and telephone duct have been laid on the bridge.

High voltage power lines have been constructed at a safe distance from the bridge. Experts expect a major shift in transportation and agriculture soon after the bridge is inaugurated.

There will be major changes in agricultural and economic activities throughout the region. Entrepreneurs have already increased their investment so that the benefits can be reaped immediately after the inauguration of the bridge.

One end of the Padma Bridge is Mawa in Munshiganj and the other end is Jajira in Shariatpur. This is the first direct road connection from Shariatpur to Dhaka through the Padma Bridge. Traders there are investing in the transport sector. People on both sides of the Padma are very happy. There is a lot of excitement around the inauguration of the bridge. People from the south can now easily come and go to Dhaka in a short time for any need.
