POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Apr 18, 2022 : Visitors to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are being harassed in various ways at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital. The allegation was raised at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment. Expressing anger over this, instructions were given to take immediate action not to harass.

The instructions were given at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Sunday.

Apart from this, considering the suffering of the expatriate workers, it was also recommended to simplify the e-passport and provide insurance for them. The meeting was chaired by Anisul Islam Mahmud, chairman of the parliamentary committee. Sadeq Khan and others were present.

After the meeting, Anisul Islam Mahmud told reporters, We have told the ministry to ensure that this harassment does not happen. Those who have a visit visa, if their visa is valid, if the government has no objection to them, then why stop them? Even if you have a valid passport and visa, you should stop detaining anyone. ‘

The meeting also discussed ways to make it easier for expatriate workers to obtain e-passports. At the end of the discussion, necessary steps were directed to identify the existing problems of e-passport.

In this regard, the chairman of the committee said, ‘The name and address are often wrong in the existing passport. It takes a lot of effort to fix an e-passport. You have to go here and there. If there is an error in the National Identity Card (NID), it takes a lot of trouble to fix it.
