POBNEWS24, Desk report, Oct 25, 2024 : Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan commented that the people of Bangladesh are dissatisfied with India’s visa policy.
She said, we have clearly said that we want good and strong relations with India. Listening and understanding each other is very important in any relationship. The Indian government must have heard that Bangladeshi people are unhappy with India’s restrictive visa policy.
She said these things at a press conference at Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday (October 24) night. The press conference was organized to inform about the meeting of the Advisory Council.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that India has been clearly saying that they cannot do anything until the situation normalizes. I don’t think there is any situation in Bangladesh, due to which any foreign country can restrict visa. Because no other country has imposed any such restriction. It is also important for us that some of those who are accused of harassing the students may have taken refuge in India. Maybe this is what is meant by the changed situation of the Indian government, we are not sure. Because no other country like America, UAE, or Japan has imposed such visa restrictions. Maybe Indian government can reconsider their policy.
She also said, “I don’t think the Bangladesh government has yet taken any initiative to change the situation with the Indian government in this regard.” Because it has not yet become a priority for the interim government to negotiate, he added.
