POBNEWS24, Dhaka Dec 15, 2022 : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the nation this evening on the occasion of the Victory Day.
The prime minister will deliver her speech at 7:30pm today, a press release of the Prime Minister’s press wing said.
Her speech will be aired by Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar as well as private TV channels and radio stations.
Tomorrow is the Great Victory Day, an unforgettable glorious day of a thousand years of bravery and valor of the Bengali nation. A day to make a debut as a nation of heroes. The day when an independent land called Bangladesh was named on the world map.
The language movement of 1948-52 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the six points of ’66, the mass uprising of ’69, the historic speech of March 7, 1971, when the genocide started on March 25, Bangabandhu’s speech in the early hours of March 26 Declaration of independence, formation of Mujibnagar government on April 17 and the bloody liberation war, freedom was achieved in return for the sacrifice of 3 million martyrs and 200,000 mothers and sisters. The final victory was achieved on 16 December 1971 with the surrender of the Pakistani army. As such, the 51st anniversary of victory is coming.
At the national level, the day will be started by firing 31 cannons in Dhaka on this day. At sunrise, the President and Prime Minister will lay wreaths at the Savar National Memorial. After that, under the leadership of the Minister of Liberation War, in his presence, Vir Shreshtha family, war wounded freedom fighters and brave freedom fighters will offer wreaths. Foreign diplomats stationed in Bangladesh, invited members of the Indian Army who participated in the liberation war as members of the allied forces and people from all walks of life including various political and social organizations will pay tribute to the martyred freedom fighters in the great liberation war.
Apart from this, a colorful parade of the combined forces will be held at the National Parade Square at Tejgaon Old Airport at 10:30 am. The President will be present as the Chief Guest to inspect the parade and take salute. The Prime Minister will also attend the parade. The President and the Prime Minister will deliver speeches on the occasion. Newspapers will publish special articles highlighting the significance of the day.
