Prime Minister gave Bangamata Medal to five distinguished women

POBNEWS24, Desk Report, Aug 8, 2022 : On the occasion of the 92nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s consort and Bangmata Begum Fazilatun Necha, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina awarded the ‘Bangmata Begum Fazilatun Necha Mujib Padak-2022’ to five eminent women for their outstanding contributions in various fields.

Today Monday (August 8) morning, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs organized the distribution ceremony of this medal at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the capital. The Prime Minister attended the function virtually from his official residence Ganabhaban.

The five distinguished women who have received the ‘Bangmata Begum Fazilatun Necha Mujib Padak-2022’ are Syeda Jebunneza Haque (Sylhet) in the field of ‘Politics’, Selima Ahmad MP (Comilla) in Economics, Professor Nasreen Ahmad, former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University in Education, Social Service Delete the case. Achiya Alam (Kishorganj) and Ashalta Vaidya (Commander during Liberation War) who was a brave freedom fighter of Gopalganj district in the field of freedom and liberation war.

With the aim of commemorating the contribution of Bangmata, the ‘Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesha Mujib’ medal, the highest national medal in ‘A’ category, has been awarded since 2021 in recognition of women’s contribution in eight fields.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister of State for Women and Child Affairs Fazilatun Necha handed over the awards to the Indira Padak recipients.
As an award, a medal weighing 40 grams of 18 carat gold, a certificate of appreciation and a check of Tk 4 lakh were
presented.

Eminent poet Anwara Syed Haque presented an original essay on Bangmata’s biography and Chemon Ara Tayyab, Chairman of the National Women’s Organization participated in the discussion. Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children. Hasanuzzaman Kallol gave the welcome speech. Syeda Zebunneza Haque spoke on behalf of the medal winners expressing their own sentiments.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the cover of a book written by her titled ‘Sheikh Fazilatun Necha Amar Ma’. He also inaugurated ‘Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nescha Mujib’ a modern 10-storey hostel for working women in Dhaka.

Documentary films based on the life of Banga Mata were displayed on the occasion. An information film about the state-of-the-art working women’s hostel constructed by the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs was also displayed at the event.

Later, a special prayer was also held to pray for the souls of the Father of the Nation, Bangamata and the martyrs of August 15, 1975.
