POBNEWS24, Dhaka May 22, 2024 : Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury held bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, at the office of Nepalese Prime Minister ‘Singha Durbar’ in Kathmandu, Nepal at noon on May 21 (Tuesday).
In the meeting, the long-standing mutual good relations between Bangladesh and Nepal, potential areas of cooperation between the two countries on climate change, ways to increase other trade possibilities including electricity trade were discussed in detail. The meeting highlighted the shared commitment of Bangladesh and Nepal to addressing environmental and climate challenges in the region.
During the discussions, Prime Minister Dahal and Minister Chowdhury explored opportunities for collaboration on various environmental initiatives. They expressed mutual interest in exchanging knowledge and best practices in sustainable forest management, renewable energy development, and climate resilience strategies.
The Prime Minister of Nepal expressed his gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh by mentioning the fact that a large number of Nepali students are getting education in Bangladesh. Prime Minister Dahal reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development.
Minister Chowdhury underscored Bangladesh’s dedication to enhancing environmental sustainability and its proactive role in international climate forums. He acknowled the potential for both nations to benefit from strengthened bilateral cooperation.
This meeting marks a significant step towards fostering a stronger partnership between Bangladesh and Nepal, paving the way for future collaboration in addressing regional and global environmental challenges.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury and First Secretary of Bangladesh Embassy Md. Humayun Kabir and high officials of Government of Nepal were also present in the meeting.
