POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Apr 4, 2022 : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the people to prevent wastage of water resources. He made the call on Monday (April 4) at 11 a.m. via video conference from Ganobhaban as the chief guest at the World Water Day 2022 celebrations.
Sheikh Hasina said, “We have taken measures to purify and supply water through pipes at various city corporations and upazila level including Dhaka city.” It costs a lot to do these
So we have to stop wasting water. It can be used in construction work, car wash, household, cooking or any other work. Everyone needs to be aware.
The Prime Minister said if this water resource is wasted, in the end there will be no resource. So we have to pay special attention to how we can preserve and use this invaluable resource that future generations can use.
He said that a plan has to be adopted keeping in view that the ground water will be recycled so that the rain water can go underground. We covered all the places with cement, and not only did the rainwater run off, but not all the rainwater would fall into the river. We also need to take measures to ensure that rainwater can be stored in the reservoirs around us.
Bangabandhu Kanya further said that water is another name for life, therefore we need to protect water resources. We have taken all the plans ourselves keeping in view that the less ground water can be used, the more surface water can be used. I believe that you will pay special attention to this issue in future also when various projects are formulated.
“Whenever an urbanization plan is adopted, a building or a house is built, we have to keep two things in mind,” he said. One is to conserve rain water, the other is to have reservoirs. It is absolutely necessary to have a reservoir. Rain water is also stored there. We have to pay special attention to the conservation and use of rain water and we have to work accordingly.
Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shamim addressed the function as a special guest under the chairmanship of State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Farooq. Kabir Bin Anwar, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources addressed the gathering.
