POBNEWS24, Dhaka , July 25, 2024 : After being closed for five consecutive days, all the industries at Gazipur in Bangladesh started on Wednesday morning. However, the full production started from Thursday (July 25). 420 members of Industrial Police are engaged in the overall security of factories and workers.
The industrial owners said that all the factories of Gazipur, which is dominated by industry, were opened on Wednesday. However, production could not be started at full speed due to labor shortage. Production has started in full swing from today. But our worries did not subside. Because production has been disrupted for five days. Also, due to lack of internet, it was not possible to communicate with the buyers as well as not being able to make the shipment on time.
Abu Taleb, admin manager of Chandra Mahmud Denims factory in Gazipur, said that many of our shipments have been blocked due to the conflict situation of the last few days. If the buyer cancels the shipment for any reason, I will face a big loss.
Masum Hossain, AGM of Tusuka Garments in Konabari, said that our factory produces one lakh pieces of pants every day. Production of five lakh pieces of pants was disrupted in five days. Besides, it was not possible to contact the buyers as the internet was down. The shipment was also closed. Many buyers do not want to buy the product if the shipment is not on time. Sometimes want to pay less.
Shariful Reza, Chief Production Officer (COO) of Sparrow Apparels Limited said, “We have lost about 8 lakh dollars due to production stoppage for the last five days. Besides, now I am trying to send the goods by air because of not being able to make the shipment on time. It will increase the cost several times.
Superintendent of Police Sarwar Alam of Gazipur Industrial Police-1 said that all officers including 420 members of Industrial Police are working for the safety of factories and workers. Besides, police, RAB, BGB and army personnel are also patrolling. Hope industrial production will continue in a peaceful environment.
