POBNEWS24, Dhaka Aug 20 2022 : Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are planning to attend the G20 summit. Indonesian President Joko Widodo said they will attend the conference to be held in Bali in November this year.
In an interview given to Bloomberg, Joko Widodo said that Xi Jinping will come. President Vladimir Putin has also told me that he will come.
This is the first time anyone has confirmed the attendance of the top two world leaders at the G20 summit. Their plans to meet at the global summit came after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and rising tensions over Taiwan since February 24 this year.
This will be Xi Jinping’s first foreign visit since January 2020. At that time, China closed the border due to the coronavirus epidemic. The Chinese president then only went outside the mainland on July 1, the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s founding.
US President Joe Biden may attend the November summit. However, it is not clear whether Biden will meet with Vladimir Putin even if he is present.
