POBNEWS24, Dhaka Aug 12, 2023 : The election to the new executive committee of Indian Media Correspondents’ Association, Bangladesh (IMCAB) for the year 2023-2024 was held today.
Quddus Afrad of the Daily Anandabazar Patrika and Masum Billah of Daily Jugasankha were elected president and general secretary respectively.
The other elected office-bearers are: vice president Razib Khan (TV9), joint general secretary Mir Afroz Zaman (United News of India (UNI), treasurer Abu Ali (Amar Asam), and organizing secretary Aminul Haque Bhuiyan (News Vanguard).
Executive members are: Rafiqul Islam Sabuj (Daily Desher Katha), Shahidul Hasan Khokon (India Today), Siam Sarower Jamil (Imphal Times, Aajker Patrika), and Jakir Hossain (Syandan Patrika, Tripura).
The election to the executive committee of IMCAB was scheduled to be held today (August 12) at the biennial general meeting.
According to the election schedule, the date of submission of nomination papers was on August 7. But later it was seen that only 11 candidates submitted nomination papers for 11 posts, i. e. one candidate for each post.
On this ground, Ashraf Ali, Joint Secretary of National Press club, who is Member Secretary of the committee formed to run the election, and Mynul Hasan Sohel, General Secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), who is Member of the committee, declared the results.
