POBNEWS24,Dhaka Dec 31, 2021: A number of instructions have been issued by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on the occasion of the English New Year celebrations. DMP Commissioner Moha on Thursday. These instructions were given in a press release signed by Shafiqul Islam. The DMP commissioner has requested not to hold any function in the open space on the occasion of Thirty First Night to welcome the English New Year.
Meanwhile, several roads in the capital will be closed from Friday evening to Saturday (January 1) morning to prevent chaos on the occasion of the English New Year celebrations. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is seeking the full cooperation of the people of the capital for this.
No foreign person or vehicle will be allowed to enter the Dhaka University area after 6 pm today. Only vehicles with sticker of Dhaka University can enter subject to identification.
Teachers, students, officers or employees residing in the Dhaka University area will have to return to their respective areas by 8 pm tonight and in case of entry, they will have to show their identity cards to the police personnel on duty.
Foreigners will not be able to enter Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara areas after 8 pm. However, residents living in these areas will be able to enter through Kamal Ataturk Avenue (Kakli Crossing) and Mohakhali Amtali Crossing after the stipulated time subject to identification. Similarly, in the interest of overall safety, people who do not live in Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara and Dhaka University residential areas are discouraged from traveling in these areas during the mentioned period.
No rallies or ceremonies will be held in the Hatirjheel area after 7 pm and no one will be able to stop or park any vehicle.
Besides, residents of Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara areas were requested to return to their respective areas by 8 pm tonight. No bar in Dhaka metropolis can be kept open after 6 pm. While maintaining social distance, limited size residential hotels can be organized under their own management.
The concerned city dwellers are requested not to carry all types of licensed firearms in various residential hotels, restaurants, public gatherings and festival venues of Dhaka metropolis from 6 pm to 5 am on January 1.
The DMP said in a statement that legal action would be taken against those who failed to comply with the directive.
The DMP has given advice and instructions for the use of alternative roads in some areas of the capital.
Kamal Ataturk Avenue (Kakli Crossing) and Mohakhali Amtali Crossing can be used for vehicles to enter Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara areas from 8pm tonight to 5am the next day.
Use of Tejgaon Industrial Area-Phoenix Road Crossing, Banani 11 Road Crossing, Chairman Bari Crossing, Dhaka Gate, Shooting Club, Badda Link Road, DOHS Baridhara-United Hospital Crossing to enter Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara area from 8 pm. No, but these crossings can be used to get out of these areas.
Any person or vehicle other than teachers, students, officers or employees of Dhaka University can enter the Dhaka University area from 6 pm to 5 am on January 1 the next day only through the south gate of the old High Court-Doel Chattar-Shaheed Minar-Jagannath Hall-Palashi junction. . All other crossings will be closed for entry into these areas.
From 8 pm no vehicles will enter Shahbagh, Nilkhet Crossing, Doel Chattar Crossing, Bakshi Bazar Crossing, Palashi Crossing and Chankharpul or Shahidullah Hall Crossing. Appropriate legal action will be taken against anyone who drives recklessly, under the influence of alcohol or in dangerous situations.
