POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 13, 2022 : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son and information technology adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy testified against five people including journalist Shafiq Rehman. At the end of the testimony, he expected justice from the court. In 2015, the police filed a case in Paltan police station on the charge of conspiracy to kidnap and kill Joy.
He appeared in the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor and testified.
The testimony of 10 out of 15 people has been taken in the case.
Today he appeared in the court at 3.17 pm. Then left the court around 4 pm. Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor (PP) Abdullah Abu said that Sajib has testified in court in the case of conspiracy to kidnap and kill Sajib Wazed Joy.
In his testimony, he said, ‘High-level leaders of BNP in Bangladesh were involved in the conspiracy to kill me. A case has also been filed in America in this incident. Some were also convicted there, including FBI agent Robert Lactit. ‘
PP Abdullah Abu said Sajib Wazed Joy testified in the American case as well. There was a conspiracy to kill journalist Shafiq Rehman at his residence in Bangladesh. Various documents have been seized from Shafiq Rehman’s house as evidence. At the end of the testimony, he expects justice in the court.
According to the complaint of the case, from any time before September 2011 till now, the vice-president of BNP’s cultural organization Jasas, Mohammad Ullah Mamun, along with high-level leaders of BNP and other parties in the alliance led by BNP, at Jasa’s office in Paltan, the capital, New York City of America, United Kingdom and various areas of Bangladesh. The accused have conspired to abduct and kill Sajib Wazed Joy in America, it is mentioned in the statement of the case. In that incident, on August 3, 2015, DB Police Inspector Fazlur Rahman filed the case at Paltan Model Police Station as the plaintiff.
On February 19, 2018, the police filed a charge sheet against five people including journalist Shafiq Rehman. The other accused in the case are Mahmudur Rahman, Acting Editor of Dainik Amar Desh newspaper, Mohammad Ullah Mamun, Vice-President of Nationalist Social and Cultural Organization (Jasas), his son Rizvi Ahmed alias Caesar and Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, an expatriate businessman in the US.
