POBNEWS24, Desk report Dhaka Oct 7, 2024 : Saudi Arabia has agreed to the proposal to send Hajj pilgrims by sea from Bangladesh. Saudi Arabia agreed to this in a meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia yesterday.
The bilateral meeting was held between the Interim Government’s Religious Adviser AFM Khalid Hussain and the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Affairs Tawfiq Fauzan Al Rabia.
The Saudi Hajj and Umrah Affairs Minister said that the Saudi government has no objection to sending pilgrims from Bangladesh by sea. However, there is a need to discuss with the port authorities. In this regard, the government of Bangladesh will also have to discuss with the shipping companies and take a final decision.
Apart from this, the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah affairs assured to update the biometric system for the pilgrims. The Religious Adviser also assures the issue of Munajjem (Multiple) visas in favor of Haj agency owners or their representatives. Also, under the Route to Makkah program, he assured the religious advisor that necessary measures will be taken regarding the loss of some luggage of pilgrims in 2023 and 2024.
