POBNEWS24, Dhaka July 13, 2024 : The annual growth rate of Australia-Bangladesh trade is about 11 percent. Bangladesh High Commission in Australia has taken great initiative in promoting this promising commercial relationship between Bangladesh and Australia.
Currently Bangladesh-Australia bilateral trade is more than four billion Australian dollars. Recently, a circular sent from the Bangladesh Embassy in Canberra informed this information.
At the beginning of this year, a meeting was held between Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh and Philippa King, Deputy Chief Executive of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission. The relationship between the two countries is strengthened and many issues come up in the discussion.
Discussions were held on strengthening economic relations between Bangladesh and Australia and diversification of products to increase trade and investment between the two countries. Information technology, light engineering, renewable energy and education were mentioned as potential sectors at this time.
It is to be noted that Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh visited Australia for the purpose of increasing Bangladesh-Australia bilateral trade and investment. He stayed there from 11 to 17 February.
The business community in Bangladesh has urged Bangladesh’s foreign policy to be more development-oriented in terms of increasing trade between the two countries and exporting skilled manpower. Dhaka University Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah said, we have gone backwards due to the failure of foreign policy in the past. Currently Sheikh Hasina’s government is doing very well in these matters. Hope you get good results in the future.
Kalimullah said, there is already a good position between Bangladesh and Australia. In the future, Bangladesh may also export skilled manpower.
