POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 21, 2021 : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the development and progress of Bangladesh should not be hampered in any way and the country should be taken forward while maintaining international standards.

He said this while addressing a reception given to the selected freedom fighters and their heirs on the occasion of Armed Forces Day on the occasion of Armed Forces Day on Sunday morning and awarding the highest peace medal to the members of the Armed Forces 2020-2021. From Ganobhaban, he participated in the main event held at the Army Multipurpose Complex of the Armed Forces Division of Dhaka Cantonment through virtual video conferencing.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “I want this on Armed Forces Day so that this progress of the country is not hampered in any way.” May Bangladesh continue with dignity all over the world. Every Bengali, wherever he goes in the world, can say with his head held high that we are a victorious nation, a developed nation. We have built our country in a dignified position.

The Prime Minister said the Father of the Nation had brought Bangladesh to the level of a least developed country and his government, with the cooperation and sincere efforts of all, has made Bangladesh a developing country following in his footsteps. Bangladesh has even shown considerable skill in dealing with coronavirus. In that case, his administration, armed forces, police, Ansar and VDP, BGB, ordinary people and party leaders and workers have worked sincerely and stood by the people. Because of this, not only coronavirus, we have acquired the ability to deal with any disaster.

Mentioning that the government is implementing various training programs to enhance the capacity of every organization including the armed forces, the Prime Minister said, “Today we can demand that Bangladesh can keep pace with all in the international arena.” Bangladesh has achieved that capability.

“We have to keep our achievements in exchange for the blood of millions of martyrs,” he said. “Today we have to remember that we have liberated this country in exchange for the blood of millions of martyrs.” The father of the nation has repeatedly been imprisoned, he has sacrificed his life for the hard working people of this country. The collective effort of all is our freedom, so that can never fail.

He also congratulated the heroic freedom fighters and their family members and every member of the armed forces. Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan, former Chief of Army Staff General (retd) Aziz Ahmed and five other former officers of the Armed Forces were awarded the Peacetime Medal for 2020-2021. Minister for Liberation War Affairs Akam Mozammel Haque was present on the occasion and handed over honorary checks and gifts to them on behalf of the Prime Minister.
